Senior Vice President, Operations & Technology (Securities Clearing and Settlement)

Job Summary

Inspiring and forward-looking leader to head the Securities Clearing and Settlement function, including Securities Borrowing and Lending (SBL). This role is critical part of SGX’s market infrastructure, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and resilient operation of post-trade clearing and settlement services.  

Beyond day-to-day operational excellence, the role plays a key part in shaping the future of securities post trade operations. The successful candidate will lead multiple strategic initiatives, including work related to digital and tokenised assets, and, in time, the industry transition towards T+1 settlement. The role offers broad exposure across the end-to-end securities value chain, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to support SGX’s mission as a trusted clearing house. 

Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

• Lead and manage the Securities Clearing and Settlement function, providing clear strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure accurate, timely and resilient execution of all clearing and settlement activities. 

• Oversee end-to-end post-trade processes across equities and fixed income products, including SBL.  

• Lead decision-making during complex, time-critical situations in a 24-hour operating environment, particularly where issues and solutions are not immediately apparent. 

• Proactively review and enhance operational workflows, controls and risk mitigation measures to maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency and resilience.  

Strategic Change & Market Evolution 

• Drive and deliver multiple change initiatives in parallel, including initiatives relating to digital and tokenized assets. 

• Play a leading role in preparing and executing the future transition towards T+1 settlement, working across systems, processes, rules and market participants. 

• Anticipate emerging markets, regulatory and technology trends, and proactively plan changes to systems, people, processes and risk frameworks to support the future state of the securities market. 

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration 

• Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders across the securities value chain, including Trading, Clearing, Depository, Business, Regulation, Risk and Technology. 

• Strengthen relationships with external stakeholders such as clearing members, settlement banks and industry participants, promoting effective collaboration and information-sharing.  

• Contribute to SGX wide initiatives and outcomes through active engagement and thought leadership. 

People Leadership 

• Lead and develop a specialized team of approximately 7 to 10 professionals, providing clear direction, coaching and performance oversight. 

• Strengthening the team’s technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and accountability.  

• Build a cohesive, motivated and high-performing team aligned with SGX’s value and priorities, fostering a culture of ownership, resilience and and continuous improvement efforts.  

Job Requirements

• Degree holder with 8 – 10 years of relevant experience in securities operations, clearing, settlement or related capital markets functions, preferably in large or complex enterprises. 

• Deep understanding of equities and fixed income products, market practices and SBL. 

• Strong knowledge of clearing and settlement systems, market infrastructure workflows, regulatory requirements applicable to post-trade operations.  

• Proven experience leading operational teams in time-critical, high-volume environments. 

• Demonstrated track record of operational excellence, with strong attention to detail, accountability and risk awareness.  

• Strategic and analytical mindset, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations. 

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and engage a broad range of stakeholders. 

• Self-motivated, resilient and adaptable, with strong sense of ownership and a can-do mindset. 

• Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, familiarity with VBA and/or Python is an advantage.
