Job Summary

The Senior Vice President, Software Engineering is a senior technology executive role responsible for shaping the engineering foundations of SGX. This leader defines the engineering strategy, platform direction, and technical standards that enable secure, resilient, and high-performing systems at enterprise scale. Operating across mission-critical environments, the role blends strategic leadership, modern engineering practices, and strong operational discipline to accelerate platform transformation, enhance developer productivity, and deliver measurable business value through technology.

Job Responsibilities

  • Software Development: Define engineering direction, software development strategy and organisational development standards.
  • Software Design: Define enterprise-wide software design principles and engineering architecture direction.
  • Secure Software Development: Establish organisational software security strategy and governance.
  • Testing & Quality Engineering: Define enterprise quality strategy and engineering quality objectives.
  • System Integration: Define strategic integration architecture across the enterprise.
  • SDLC & Delivery Excellence: Establish organisational engineering excellence strategy and delivery governance.
  • Observability & Production Support: Help define organisational service ownership and operational excellence strategy.
  • Automation & Productivity: Help define organisational productivity strategy and investment priorities.
  • Leadership & Mentoring: Establish engineering culture, capability development and workforce strategy.
  • Agentic AI Engineering: Help define the function approach for AI-native software engineering, including strategy, governance, adoption metrics, risk controls and investment priorities for agentic workflows across design, build, review, testing and operations in a regulated environment.
  • Own engineering performance metrics across reliability, delivery velocity, developer productivity, and cost efficiency, using data-driven insights to continuously improve outcomes.
  • Partner closely with business, technology, risk, and operations stakeholders to translate enterprise priorities into pragmatic engineering outcomes and investment decisions.

Job Requirements

  • Experience: Extensive senior leadership experience in software engineering, platform engineering or enterprise technology within large, complex and highly available environments.
  • Track record: Proven track record of establishing engineering standards, leading technical governance and driving platform modernisation and technical-debt-reduction programmes, using engineering metrics such as reliability, deployment performance and developer productivity to inform decisions.
  • Technical stack: Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms and modern architecture patterns, with strong platform engineering experience across Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD and observability at enterprise scale.
  • Standards & environment: Sound judgement balancing scale, resilience, security and speed in demanding, regulated, high-availability enterprise settings.
  • Communication & leadership: Strong executive presence and communication skills, with experience shaping investment, vendor and operating model decisions, and a track record of building, mentoring and inspiring high-performing engineering teams including succession planning and leadership development.
  • Education & certifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information and Communications Technology, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
