SGX (July - December 2024) Fall Internship Programme

Job Responsibilities

Brief Overview:
Join our team for an exciting 6-month internship opportunity where you will be at the forefront of data analysis, risk monitoring and stakeholder management in the dynamic world of financial derivatives market. As an intern, you will not only enhance your technical prowess as you embark on projects such as designing and developing monitoring metrics to address idiosyncratic price risk of commodity derivatives products, but also harness essential soft skills as you engage in external conversations with SGX members. At the end of the internship, you'll sharpen your ability to analyze, assess and innovate, setting the stage for a future career marked by success and impact.

Job Description:

1.    Data Aggregation and Analysis: 

  • Learn to dissect big data, including data cleaning and analysis techniques, to extract meaningful insights. 
  • Analyse trends and historical data to design meaningful price monitoring metrics for commodity derivatives to address idiosyncratic price risk. 
  • Utilize basic programming skills in Python to aggregate data and generate reports.

2.    Testing and Quality Assurance: 

  • Conduct thorough testing on report submissions from external stakeholders to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Assist in identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues in data submissions.

3.    Process Improvement: 

  • Contribute ideas and insights to improve risk monitoring activities and streamline processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to implement process enhancements and efficiency measures.

4.    Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Educate and inform external stakeholders about reporting requirements, ensuring clarity and understanding. 
  • Follow up promptly and effectively on stakeholder queries, providing clear and concise responses.


Knowledge and Skills requirements:

  • Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking, with the ability to analyze patterns and trends in complex problems and develop innovative solutions. 
  • Strong programming skills in Python for data aggregation, analysis and risk monitoring metrics design. 
  • Strong Excel skills for data manipulation and reporting purposes.
  • Eagerness to learn about big data analysis techniques and data cleaning processes.
  • Proficiency in email communication and ability to draft clear and professional correspondences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
