RegCo Roles:

Sustainability Development Office

Brief Overview:

The Sustainable Development Office coordinates regulatory efforts to promote the availability of corporate sustainability disclosures to investors and other stakeholders in a comparable and trusted manner and implements initiatives to advance the sustainability performance of listed issuers. The team also participates in standards-setting projects and builds awareness and capability within the ecosystem.

As an intern, you will gain exposure to global sustainability and climate-related standards and how they inform regulatory approaches and market disclosures.  You will contribute to research, policy development and industry engagement efforts, and support initiatives that build awareness and capability across the ecosystem.

The internship offers a unique opportunity to be involved in work at the intersection of sustainability, finance and regulation, and to better understand how exchanges and regulators support the transition towards more sustainable and resilient capital markets. Interns are expected to approach their work with rigour, attention to detail and intellectual curiosity in supporting regulatory and policy-related initiatives.

Job Description:

This internship offers hands-on experience in ESG policy, sustainability-related market initiatives, and stakeholder engagement within a regulatory environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting in-depth research and benchmarking on global sustainability developments, including international frameworks, standards, jurisdictional initiatives, trends and emerging issues.
  • Synthesising sustainability developments into internal knowledge resources and contributing to regulatory communications and insights.
  • Assisting in the preparation of materials for industry briefings, working groups and stakeholder engagements that inform regulatory discussions and market practice.
  • Helping to develop action plans and materials to support sustainability-related capacity-building efforts for listed companies.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders across multidisciplinary teams on sustainability-related projects and initiatives.
  • Supporting the coordination of cross-functional initiatives within SGX Group and external partners.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing to discussions on project planning and strategy.

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

  • Undergraduate studies in sustainability, public policy, finance, economics, environmental science or related disciplines.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, climate-related issues and the role of capital markets in supporting the global transition.
  • Comfortable working with data and policy documents, including the ability to clean, structure and manage datasets to draw insights and recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, with the ability to synthesise complex and technical information clearly and precisely.
  • Proactive, adaptable and able to work effectively across teams with diverse stakeholders.
  • Good organisational, event coordination and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel and MS Word.
