FX Derivatives

A short overview of the Unit/Team

The Derivatives team has global responsibility for the FX, Rates and Digital Assets business lines, spanning product development, product marketing and ongoing product management. The team works with strategic clients across regions and supports commercial initiatives that contribute to the business’s long-term priorities.

 

What the intern can learn during the internship

 This internship offers practical exposure to how exchange-traded derivatives products are researched, managed and brought to market. You will work with the senior members on the team on projects across FX, Rates and Digital Assets, building skills that connect macro and micro market analysis, data and client needs.

  • FX market microstructure, competitive dynamics and the roles of key market participants
  • Analysis of daily trading volume, open interest, spreads and customer trading patterns
  • Global macroeconomic drivers and their impact on FX markets
  • Product validation, market research and the preparation of client-facing materials
  • Business development through exposure to sales planning, conferences and promotional events
  • Practical use of market and data tools, including Excel, Bloomberg and, where relevant, SQL

 

Job Description

  • Conduct market microstructure reviews, competitor analysis and SWOT assessments for selected FX products
  • Support end-of-day settlement price analysis and related operational checks
  • Prepare concise weekly and monthly updates on global macro drivers and FX market performance
  • Research and develop marketing materials, sales presentations and client pitch content
  • Assist with customer validation for new and existing products
  • Maintain inputs for the weekly FX sales pipeline and business review
  • Support eDM distribution and updates to SGX FX website content
  • Analyse business performance across clients, geographies and products
  • Participate in selected sales, marketing and industry events

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

We welcome applications from undergraduates who are curious about global markets and enjoy turning data into clear commercial insights. Strong candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills
  • A good command of English; Mandarin language capability is useful
  • Proficiency in Excel, including Power Pivot; VBA capability is an advantage
  • Experience with Bloomberg, particularly Bloomberg Excel tools, is preferred
  • Working knowledge of SQL is useful but not essential
  • A genuine interest in FX, Rates, Digital Assets and global macroeconomics
  • Initiative, adaptability, a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a collaborative team environment
