SGX (Jul - Dec 2024) Fall Internship Programme

Analysis & Research (ESG)

Brief Overview:
Aside to content generation, the Research team is also responsible for the newly launched SGX ESG Disclosure Platform and SGX Core ESG Metrics which will support companies in their ESG disclosure journey by enabling companies to report metrics aligned with global standards and frameworks and ensuring regulatory compliance that meets investor needs for consistent and comparable ESG data.


Learning Objectives:
Key takeaways from the internship:

  • Develop a good understanding of the local equities market, exchange business, and ESG disclosure and reporting landscape
  • Exposure to project management in ESG projects, project implementation and driving adoption of the use of the platform
  • Opportunities to interact with management from listed companies and participate in capability building activities within the ESG ecosystem (e.g.training and support for stakeholders, outreach and education initiatives)
  • Where the intern is also keen for exposure on Equities Research, exposure on company analysis and financial information, data analytics, sectors and economic trends. Cultivate research skills such as writing reports and presentations/communication skills
  • Interact with various internal business units and external stakeholders


Job Description:

  • Support the team in ESG project management, driving implementation and adoption of the ESG Disclosure Platform, realizing downstream activities and KPIs.
  • Work with the team on ESG capability building for the broader Singapore market through marketing, outreach and education initiatives.
  • Organize events, webinars, forums for the ecosystem to promote the use of the platform and ESG metrics
  • Creation of insights and dashboards for analytics
  • With exposure to Equities Research as well, the intern will have opportunities to work with the research team data preparation/analysis, compiling, writing research reports and presenting research information in reports/presentations
  • Bring a highly valued fresh perspective to our team and will be encouraged to openly communicate and contribute to discussions
  • Assist the research team on specific ESG and/or research projects
     

Knowledge and Skills requirements:

  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication and analytical skills; good command of English (Mandarin would be an added bonus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Keen interest and has actively participated in ESG projects/initiatives
  • Knowledge of investing and the stock market


 

Markets - Platform Analytics

Brief Overview:
In the Platform Analysis team, we provide both quantitative and qualitative analytical insights for key decision making on market development.

  • The ins and outs of equities products and their relevance to capital markets
  • The dynamics of trade activities performed by various market participants 
  • Relate academic knowledge in real world capital markets


Job Description:

  • Leverage proprietary or thirty-party data to analyse order activity and trade flow patterns
  • Visualize data to provide key statistics for market pulse monitoring
  • Use analytics and modelling methodologies to facilitate product and market designs
  • Liaise with stakeholders and manage recourses across units to implement a data project
  • Promote good data analytics practices - robust documentation and knowledge sharing
     

Knowledge and Skills requirements:
Technical

  • Passion in data analytics
  • Solid programing skills in one of the language R / Python / SQL
  • Knowledge of data structure and database

Business

  • Keen interest in financial market
  • A responsible and willing learner 
  • Commitment of 6-12-month fulltime internship
