Cloud Engineering

Short overview on the Unit/Team:

The Cloud Engineering team is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining resilient, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure. The team drives automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC), enforces cloud governance and security standards, and manages day-to-day platform operations to support mission-critical enterprise applications.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand how a cloud engineering function operates within a highly regulated financial institution, including compliance, audit, and risk management baselines.
  • Gain exposure to enterprise cloud architecture design, learning how resilient and secure multi-cloud systems are structured.
  • Gain practical, hands-on experience authoring and maintaining Infrastructure as Code for cloud environments.
  • Learn how to design and build reusable, standardized cloud architectures and modules according to industry best practices.
  • Understand modern DevSecOps practices by writing and implementing automated guardrails, compliance rules, and resource policies.
  • Experience real-world troubleshooting, monitoring, and day-to-day operational support in an enterprise multi-cloud setting.
  • Work closely with cloud engineers, learning agile workflows, version control (Git), and technical documentation
  • Gain exposure to the responsible use of AI and AI agents to support cloud engineering activities such as code assistance, documentation, operational analysis, and workflow automation.

 

Job Description

  • Develop, test, and document reusable IaC modules for provisioning core cloud services.
  • Implement Policy-as-Code frameworks to enforce cloud security baselines, mandatory tagging, and governance rules.
  • Support engineers with cloud engineering BAU tasks, including resource provisioning requests, baseline configuration audits, and platform hygiene.
  • Assist in troubleshooting infrastructure configuration issues.
  • Assist in identifying suitable manual workflows and building AI agents to automate them.
  • Maintain clean code repositories and draft clear, concise runbooks and technical documentation for newly developed components.

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements 

  • Strong problem-solving mindset, proactive learning attitude, and good written and verbal communication skills [MUST].
  • Experience with any scripting language like Python or Bash, Git-based source control, and basic Linux command-line navigation [MUST].
  • Basic understanding of infrastructure and cloud computing concepts, such as compute, networking, storage, and IAM, with hands-on cloud experience gained through academic work, personal projects, or labs [Advantage].
  • Familiarity with basic CI/CD concepts, version control pipelines, or container technologies (like Docker) [Advantage]
