Brief Overview:
The Securities Business Operations team consists of five functions that work in tandem to keep the heart of the Singapore Securities market beating. When you join the team, you’ll get to experience firsthand the full spectrum of activities across the operations value chain.
Learning Objectives:
The selected intern would undergo a structured internship program under the guidance of experienced mentors, covering Securities market. You will learn and understand about the Securities business through our products and processes; hands-on experience using the systems and tools to keep the heart of the Singapore Securities market beating.
Job Description:
These are the 5 functions within the operations team, and the skills that you can gain from getting involved in each step of the way.
Facilitating the Initial Product Offering process - Oversee the end-to-end flow of new Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) and get a holistic view of how various teams collaborate behind the scenes to facilitate new listings on the Singapore Exchange (SGX).
Transferring and Creation of Securities Assets - Get familiarized with the bond-issuance process, and the creation and the transfer of products like ETFs, Singapore Government Securities and T-Bills. Ensure that all records properly documented, such that products are made available in time for trading.
Listing of Tickers on the Exchange - Learn the methods of interacting with stock issuers, gathering relevant information, and making sure that products are listed accurately and timely. Maintain the orderliness of the market and the satisfaction of traders in the Singapore market.
Clearing and Settlement - Operate the Post Trade System, the central system that processes a billion dollars’ worth of stocks and cash every day. Ensure that assets get into the hands of the right people, at the right time.
Handling Corporate Action Events – Experience handling important corporate action events like dividends and rights issue for our listed companies, ensuring shareholders’ accounts are updated accurately and timely. Gain exposure to communicating with financial advisors and legal professionals while managing the corporate action events to ensure they run smoothly.
Protecting the Exchange against bad actors - Gain insight into the specific techniques used to perform Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) assessments. Guard against bad actors that could majorly impact the reputation of the stock exchange and Singapore’s financial industry.
