SGX Fall Internship Programme (July - December 2023)

Business Management

The Business Management team supports the Unit Head and sales team in sales reporting, analysis, governance and KPI management.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding of products and business of SGX
  • Data analysis and management reporting
  • Hands on experience with CRM, Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau
  • Dashboarding and visualizations

Job Description:

  • Assist in preparation of regular reports in support of sales management. 
  • Undertake analysis where required to explain business trends or requests from business
  • Ensure data quality across systems and reports, through maintenance, cleansing or transformation.
  • Engage and manage stakeholders, gathering user feedback or requirements, to complete assigned tasks.
  • Create or enhance data visualisations on CRM/Tableau.
  • Undertake operational tasks including processing of invoices, payment requests, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Requirements: 

  • Basic proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Tableau, SQL, VBA Macros will be a plus
  • Able to multitask and work independently

The intern must have: 

  • A positive attitude and willing to learn.
  • Intermediate technical aptitude to use various systems, programs to work with data

Corporate & Institutional Clients

The Corporate & Institutional Clients team develops & executes strategies to build relationships with SGX listed companies, promote SGX services to SGX listed companies, and also SGX's relationship with institutional clients. CIC also encompasses Debt Capital Markets where the remit is developed and execute sales strategy to promote listing of debt securities on SGX.

Learning Objectives:
The skills and exposure from this internship could prepare you for a role in sector coverage banking, research & analysis and marketing in financial services.

You will also gain hands on experience with virtual platforms such as WebEx, and information providers such as Bloomberg and more. You will gain some insight into capital markets. You will use MS Office to assist in preparation of marketing pitches.

You will get exposed to equity and debt markets and dealing with corporations:

  • Equities & Fixed income market structure (primary issuance and secondary trading)
  • Exposure to equities and bond issuance and listings process and practices
  • Market research and data analysis/reporting
  • Networking opportunities with market participants through corporate events and meetings
  • Opportunities to work with other SGX departments through projects and company events or activities

Job Description:
As an intern, you will:

  • Support the team in marketing and business development efforts (eg. prepare pitches, briefs and minutes of meetings)
  • This includes collecting and analysing data from a variety of sources, including Bloomberg, desktop searches and from financial disclosures
  • Assist with maintaining contacts database, market segmentation and preparing electronic mailers
  • Assist with market & liquidity studies
  • Support the planning and logistics of marketing events (e.g., seminars, roundtables, etc.), including physical and virtual formats and preparing social media updates.
  • Assist with other activities as necessary

Tasks will include:

  • Manage email campaigns
  • Arrange meetings and manage follow-ups
  • Hosting and arranging virtual and in-person events
  • Preparation of market and business updates/reports
  • Preparation and update of marketing/sales materials
  • Market research and data analysis
  • Marketing activities and business events:
  • Client relationship management related areas
  • Fixed income projects in areas like coordination with other departments/vendors, preparation of project update, preparation of related marketing materials.

Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:

  • Start by early July 2023
  • End first week Jan 2024 or later (or otherwise facilitate a handover)
  • Have a good command of English, both written and oral
  • Be able to read, write and speak Chinese
  • Be proficient in MS Office applications, including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient and comfortable with social media and other media applications
  • Be detail-oriented, and numerically literate
  • Be able to multitask and work independently
